GROSSE POINTE, Mich. (WXYZ) — An elementary school music teacher will return to the classroom after an investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct.

The teacher at Mason Elementary School went on paid leave and was under investigation for allegedly asking a kindergarten boy to rub lotion on his back.

In a letter to parents, Grosse Pointe Public School System Superintendent Gary Niehaus said that while the teacher had shown a lack of professional judgment and his conduct warranted a response from the district, he is not a danger to students.

"The district is confident [the teacher] has reflected on this situation," Niehaus said in the letter.

The teacher has decided to take a medical leave of absence until further notice.
