(WXYZ) — What if you had to make a decision between buying food for your kids, paying bills or going to chemotherapy? That was the reality for a local woman until she was given a special gift.

Happiness bubbling over was the reaction of Tiesse Wallace, who is battling stage IV cancer, when she was handed over the keys to a Saturn purchased off the lot at Masters Auto Sales at a discount by a group of charities.

"Let’s see, this is beautiful," Wallace said. "This will get me and my two kids along… get me to my appointments.”

James Craven was beaming with pride. He's part of Alex's Arcade, the folks that made this all possible. Craven began the nonprofit because of he and his now 20-year-old son's own battle. His son was diagnosed with cancer when he was just 12.

"We’ve actually had someone donate a car to our family when we didn’t have reliable transportation," Craven said. "I don’t know who that person was — if you’re out there, thank you."

So, while some may take a vehicle for granted. Wallace, after months of making tough decisions, doesn't.
