The husband of the woman found bound, beaten and shot in a pickup truck earlier this week is now facing multiple assault charges.
A Grosse Pointe Park police officer who was working undercover noticed the truck in an empty field in Detroit. The 34-year-old suspect, Radu Vasile Muntean, reportedly waved at the officer, and he went over to investigate.
We're told Muntean flashed a fake badge and told the officer he ran out of gas. That's when the undercover cop spotted the 32-year-old woman in the truck.
Police say Muntean and his wife are from Hazel Park.
Authorities believe Muntean intended to dump her body in the field. His wife is now recovering at a nearby hospital.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Muntean with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, unlawful imprisonment, felonious assault and felony firearm.
Muntean was arraigned Friday afternoon.
