Ask Dr. Nandi: Cars may not protect you from sun

Posted

You may have thought that keeping your window up in the summer will help protect you from the sun's UV rays, but new research says different.

A new study found that side windows block only about 44 percent of the sun's rays, leading to a higher percentage of left-eye cataracts and skin cancer.

Only four of the nearly 30 cars researchers tested blocked more than 90 percent of the rays.

Chief Health Editor Dr. Partha Nandi joined The Now Detroit to talk more about the research.
