Hearing held on smart meter fees today

Michigan state Rep. Gary Glenn held a hearing on protecting homeowners from ‘smart meter’ fees today.

Glenn listened to testimony on his bill allowing Michigan homeowners to reject the installation of electric utility 'smart meters' with no charge.

The bill would allow customers to choose between a traditional meter or the smart meters that utilities have been installing.

Smart meters have been controversial, with many people blaming them for health problems.

They have also led to many people having their power shut off, when they refused to allow the new meters to be installed, or placed locks on their older meters to prevent them from being removed.
