Heavy police presence in Detroit as officers search for Romulus homicide suspect

ROMULUS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police are investigating a pursuit involving suspects connected to a homicide in Romulus.

On Dec. 1 around 9:30 p.m., Michigan State Police say there were contacted by the Romulus Police Department about a pursuit by their units on eastbound I-94 at Middlebelt and requested help.

According to police, it was determined the suspects were involved in a homicide. The police department confirmed that one man suffered a fatal gunshot wound in an incident at a home in the 15700 block of Taft in Romulus.

The pursuit led to the east side of Detroit, where Romulus police saw the passenger run from the car in the area of Mound and McNichols. He is also the suspect in the homicide, police say.

There is currently a perimeter set up in the area with an ongoing MSP canine track.

Residents can expect a heavy police presence in the area.

No word yet on whether the suspect who ran off has been apprehended.
