A health alert after a national food vendor discovered a frozen strawberries they supply to local vendors could be contaminated with hepatitis A.
The supplier is Sysco Foods, and the Macomb County Health Department released a list of restaurants who may have served the frozen strawberries across the state.
The strawberries came from Egypt did make its way to Michigan.
According to the CDC, hepatitis A is a viral liver disease that can cause mild to severe illness. It is transmitted through eating contaminated food and water or through direct contact with an infectious person.
The strawberries wouldn't be found on the shelves of grocery stores, but were delivered to commercial restaurants across the country, including in Michigan.
So far, there are no reports of illnesses.
