(WXYZ) — If you're heading to the Michigan Capitol Wednesday for Operation Haircut, here's a few things you need to know.

The rally, inspired by Owosso barber Karl Manke's defiance of the governor's stay-at-home order, will take place on May 20 at noon on the capitol lawn.

Those attending will be encouraged to comply with social distancing and other safe practices, such as using face coverings.

“Citizens are tired of being treated like babies,” said Meshawn Maddock, Chair of the 11th District Republican Committee. “As adults, we know what needs to be done to stay safe. Any citizen has the right to participate, or not participate, in Operation Haircut."

The Michigan Conservative Coalition, the group organizing the event, has released a set of rules for cutters.

Organizers said displaying respectful flags and signs will be encouraged at the Michigan Capitol Building located at 100 N. Capitol Avenue, Lansing, MI 48933.

A livestream of the event will be on WXYZ.com and Facebook.com/wxyzdetroit.
