"He was just a free person," Le'Don said. "He loved fashion, he loved music, he loved his profession, he was the best DJ on the planet."

Detroit police released a short video of two suspects in connection to the double shooting that happened on Feb. 7. One man was wounded in the shooting, the other, DJ Slick B, was killed.

"It was a shock for me," Le'Don said. " I got the news just like everybody else, I couldn’t believe it."

Le’Don was friends with Byron Gilbert who went by the stage name Slick B for 13 years. He still can’t believe his friend is gone.

"He never bothered anybody," the long-time friend said. "He’s a great friend and a great father to his kids. I just don’t know why anyone would want to take his life."

The shooting happened just before 7:30 p.m. on the 10000 block of W. McNichols. Officers say Slick B and another man were walking to there vehicle when two men came from inside the vehicle and fired shots striking both men and killing Slick B.

"We can’t forget him, he’s going to live on through us," Le'Don said. "So we have to make sure that we keep his name alive because there’s never going to be another Slick B."

Now, all Slick B’s family and friends can do is pray, and hope that someone comes forward with information and help bring justice for his family.

"Keep praying for his family and make sure we keep his name alive, that’s all I have to ask," Le'Don said.

The other person shot in this double shooting, a 25-year-old man, was just released from the hospital. If you have any information in this shooting call crime stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
