EASTPOINTE, Mich. (WXYZ) — A homeowner has been hospitalized after their Eastpointe home caught fire Thursday morning.
On July 30 at 6:30 a.m., the Eastpointe Fire Department responded to a house fire on Shakespeare near Norton.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the homeowner – the only person in the home at the time – suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
"Today is a good day to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. Smoke detectors save lives," the fire department posted to Facebook.
