HOWELL, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Howell Nature Center said it has taken in and injured juvenile bald eagle that was found on the ground and not moving over the weekend.

According to the HNC, the bald eagle was found on the ground and not moving by man walking his dog in Montrose, Mich. near the Flint River. When he returned after putting his dog away, the man couldn't find the eagle. He contacted the Michigan DNR who came to get the bird.

A DNR conservation officer was able to find the bald eagle and use a dog crate borrowed from the man to take the animal to the Howell Nature Center.

The HNC said the eagle was dehydrated, thin and had injuries to both wings. It's likely she wouldn't have survived in the wild.

Right now, the nature center said they are not sure if she will be released back into the wild, but the are planning to rehabilitate the bald eagle as they have a wildlife rehabilitation clinic.

The nature center said it will cost around $2,500 to rehab the eagle over the next three to four months, and they are asking for help with donations.

They believe the eagle is between 1 and 1 1/2 years old due to the coloring of her feathers and eyes.
