Hurricane Sally reaches Category 2

Posted
and last updated

The National Hurricane Center has upgraded Hurricane Sally to a category 2 hurricane as of the 5pm Monday. The storm is expected to make landfall as early as Tuesday night with high winds, flooding rain and storm surge.

As with most hurricanes and tropical storms - rain and flooding will be a tremendous issue. Sally's slow speed and approach will allow flash flooding and areal flooding to reach dangerous levels. Nearly ten inches of rain or more will be possible in some areas of southern Alabama and Mississippi.
