BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A husband and wife fought off a burglar inside their Bloomfield Township home overnight Saturday, and the alleged burglar was later arrested.

According to police, they were called to the home on Helston Ct. around midnight on Nov. 21 after a man said he woke up and heard his dog barking.

The man told dispatchers he found a window and door open to his home, and his wife later found a man hiding inside.

While on the phone with 911, police said the man and his wife began fighting with the burglar, but he broke free and took off through the garage.

During the fight, the suspect dropped his phone and key fob.

Police arrived in minutes and searched the area with three K9 teams and a drone. About four hours later, police found a man matching the suspect's description walking in the road. They arrested him.

According to police, the suspect is 24-year-old Bobby Lewis Foster and his vehicle was found parked in a driveway near the home.

He was charged with first degree home invasion, aggravated assault and assault and battery.
