Novi police have identified the two victims involved in a fatal fire.
Firefighters responded to the scene at 7:23 a.m. on Friday, December 15. Upon arrival at the home on East Lake Drive, there was smoke and flames coming from the house.
Barbara Garner, 61, and her husband Kenneth Garner, 66, were found upstairs in the home.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
Barbara Garner worked for Walled Lake Schools.
The district released the following statement:
We are grieving today at the Educational Services Center and throughout Walled Lake Schools at the passing of Barb Garner, a 26-year Walled Lake Schools employee, and her husband, in a tragic fire this morning. She worked in Business Office in Payroll and earlier in Accounts Payable and Transportation.
Barb was a wonderful, caring, kind, committed friend , co-worker and mother of two adult children, and wife. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Barb’s children and family.
