The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released its list of the safest and most affordable cars for teen drivers.
The list is based on crash test ratings and price.
This year's list is 50 percent larger than last year and the standards have not changed. Also, for the first time this year, pickup trucks have made the list. Last year, trucks that met the safety requirements were too expensive because they were higher than the $20,000 limit for the list.
The institute divided this year's list into two categories. "Best choices" are vehicles that earn good crash test ratings and cost $20,000 or less. "Good choices" are vehicles that earn good or acceptable ratings on crash tests and cost less than $10,000.
