ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police are investigating a home invasion that happened Tuesday night in Royal Oak Township.

Troopers say they received a 911 call around 11:15 p.m. of three suspicious subjects dressed in black trying to open a window of a home on the 10700 block of North Oak Drive.

The caller told police the suspects briefly left the targeted home before returning, holding one of the homeowners at gunpoint. The homeowners was forced into the residence before the suspects took off from the home again.

Police arriving to the scene found and arrested one 23-year-old male suspect running a short distance away from the home. He was taken to the Oakland County Jail.

One of the homeowners sustained a minor laceration from being hit by a suspect, police say.

Inside the home, troopers found what appeared to be an illegal marijuana growing operation.

Troopers along with canines and MSP Aviation were not able locate the other two suspects. The search also included a commercial warehouse as an alarm activated at the same time the suspect ran off from the home, police say. Searching ended around 4:00 a.m.

The suspects left behind several items including: three large containers of marijuana, a firearm and a safe containing cash. There were also unknown pills, ecstasy and marijuana oil gel tablets were found in the vicinity of the victim's home, according to MSP.
