"Fun picture! You should share that to your story."

But, I'm not talking about Snapchat.

Instagram just announced its latest feature: Instagram Stories.

Now all of the moments you share on Instagram don't have to be picture perfect, they can be fun and fleeting.

As users choose to share a photo or video to their story, the content is strung together in slideshow form and posted in a special bar at the top of their feed.

That's the beauty of it, these story posts won't clog up your aesthetically pleasing profile grid--and poof, after 24 hours, the content is gone.

With stories, text, paint and emoji can also be added to spice up each picture or video.

Sound familiar? It should-- as it's pretty much the same feature that Snapchat made popular. You know what they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?

Look out, Snapchat. Instagram is coming for you.

The Instagram Stories update is expected to roll out over the next few weeks on iOS and Android.
