IMLAY CITY, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Imlay City Police Department is rallying behind the 12-year-old daughter of a sergeant who was injured in a snowmobile accident over the weekend.

"It was just like heartbreaking is the first thing that crosses your mind," said Angela Cardenas, a local resident.

According to the department, Michaela Wolford is currently in a coma in critical condition.

Wolford is a sixth-grader at Imlay City Middle School. Counselors and social workers are at the school for any help the students may need.

"My heart just started pounding really hard," said Marisol Cardenas who attends school with Michaela. "I hope she gets better and more nice things."

The Imlay City Police Department is keeping the situation updated on their Facebook page.

They have also set up a GoFundMe account to help the family.
