UPDATE: Police in Imlay City have found the body of a man accused of hitting and killing a motorcyclist then fleeing the scene.

Alexander Waschull's body was discovered in a field behind a Super 8 Motel around 3 a.m.

It appears he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

-----------

Following Friday mornings crash, officers found loaded guns inside Waschull's silver Jeep.

It’s an incident that has the small knit community coming together.

"It always impacts the whole community because it’s a small town," Kristan MacKay said, as she was getting her groceries.

It's something the people of Imlay City, aren’t used to hearing about.

"I mean it’s unexpected. You don’t ever see that in Imlay City all the time," said Imlay City resident Lawrence Peterson.

Waschull worked at Ameriprise Financial in West Bloomfield. The company says he was terminated after the incident.

"There’s a guy that has no respect for human life and turns around and runs and kills someone with their car," MacKay said.

A friend speaking on behalf of the family says the victim is Rick Dahn, who was loved by all in the community.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for Dahn's funeral expenses.

Officers say Waschull fled the scene on foot after the accident. We're learning his 9-year-old son was in the car and that Waschull put him in his mother's vehicle, which was following behind at the time of the incident.
