The Imlay City police are warning the public not to approach a man they say was involved in a fatal hit-and-run this morning on M-53, and then ditched his vehicle, which contained numerous loaded weapons.
Police said Alexander George Waschull hit a man on a motorcycle around 10 a.m. on M-53, north of Newark Road, near Big Boy.
The victim was identified as Rick Dahn, according to family-friend Meloney Lojko.
“How can you leave somebody like that? Please just help us find this guy. Rick didn’t deserve this,” said Lojko.
After the crash, police said Waschull fled the area on foot, leaving behind his silver Jeep. Inside the Jeep, police discovered several loaded weapons.
Waschull has had multiple contacts with law enforcement for weapons offenses, domestic violence, OWI and disorderly conduct. According to police, Washull is court-ordered not to possess firearms.
Waschull is described as white, 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 250 pounds and last seen wearing a green T-shirt.
If located, do not approach Waschull, instead call 911 immediately or contact Lapeer County Central Dispatch immediately at 810-667-0292.
