ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) — An elementary school student decided to do a self-less act to celebrate her birthday. So she gathered toys t give to children at a metro Detroit hospital.
When 8-year-old Ava was considering her birthday celebration, she chose not to request presents for herself, but for dozens of children confined to a hospital bed this holiday season.
Ava is a second-grader. She asked her family and friends for new toys that she could donate to Beaumont Children's Hospital in Royal Oak.
She was able to donate nearly 400 brand new toys to young patients at the hospital.
