Snow falling in Metro Detroit can only mean one thing, we are inching closer to the holidays!

Well, it’s always snowing in the North Pole.

Santa is always looking for helpers.

But to get to him, you have to make your way through Santa’s Flight Academy at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi.

It’s an interactive center for kids, big and small.

Dan Jones is the General Manager of Twelve Oaks Mall.

“Kind of in awe that’s the best way to describe it. It’s really fun to watch them as they walk up to the Flight Academy because it’s very impressive physically,” he said.

The academy is 22 feet tall and takes about 3,000 square feet.

First, flight cadets need to register, fill out some info and get a personalized badge.

Then you enter the very interactive space, get to the sleigh and you have a massive switchboard to operate.

Fill it up with packages, check the air space and the weather forecast will be given by one of the elves.

Our 7 First Alert Meteorologists will appreciate that one.

Check your engines before you take off.

But before you go, talk to Santa.

“Ultimately, each child gets to be a hero as they help Santa deliver packages around the world.”

Santa will be visiting the mall until Christmas Eve.
