(WXYZ) — Grosse Pointe Park and Shores police departments believe multiple home invasions are linked to an international crime ring.

Authorities said two homes were targeted on Feb. 1 around 7:30 p.m. by the same suspects. The first reported home break-in was on the 15000 block of Windmill Pointe.

Investigators said around $20,000 worth of valuables were stolen but have since been recovered. The second crime reportedly took place on the 900 block of Lake Shore Road around 8 p.m.

Police said valuables were also stolen from inside the home. However, the suspects fled after an alarm system alerted police.

The suspect's fled the home and were not found after a search.

A vehicle related to the home invasions was recovered, according to authorities. A majority of the stolen items were recovered including jewelry and cash inside the vehicle.

The FBI and Border Control are also assisting in the investigation. Police believe they have identified at least two of the suspects and believe they are from Chile.
