Jewish Community Center evacuated in West Bloomfield due to bomb threat

The Jewish Community Center is back open after being evacuated for several hours Wednesday because of a bomb scare.

Several hundred people were inside the community center, which houses a day care, school, fitness center and other activities.

Police say the threat was consistent with others received at 30 other institutions around the country, 16 of which came just today.

The call came in around 11:30 a.m., with the caller saying a bomb had been placed in the building.

Police quickly swept the building with multiple K-9 units. but did not find any explosives devices.

7 Action News spoke with the woman who took the threatening call. She said a woman phoned in the threat.

Police are working to track that person down.
