Jewish community welcomes other religions for Mitzvah Day

Posted

Detroit's Jewish community is coming together with other religions for a Christmas Day volunteering tradition.

Mitzvah Day is sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council and the Jewish Federation of Metro Detroit.

Nearly 1,000 Jewish volunteers will be joined by their Muslim neighbors to take part in the "mitvahs" (good deeds) at 43 different community sites in metro Detroit.

They will fan out between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. to help give back to the community.

For more information, call 248-642-5393 and ask about Mitzvah Day.
