(WXYZ) — A federal judge has granted preliminary approval to a proposed $641 million lawsuit settlement in the Flint Water Crisis.

Judge Judith Levy approved the agreement on Thursday, which came just over a month after Michigan legislators approved the plan to borrow $600 million.
The plan would have the state pay $600 million, the City of Flint and McLaren Flint Hospital to each pay $20 million, and Rowe Professional Services Co., an environmental consulting company that will pay $1.25 million.

The settlement is the largest Michigan's largest ever and will cost the state more than $1 billion to repay over 30 years, with them repaying $35 million per year.
Last week, the state issued charges against nine former public officials for their alleged role in the Flint Water Crisis, including former Gov. Rick Snyder.
