(WXYZ) — Libertarian Rep. Justin Amash, who represents Michigan's 3rd Congressional District, will not seek re-election.
In a tweet late Thursday night, Amash said "I love representing our community in Congress. I always will. This is my choice, but I’m still going to miss it. Thank you for your trust."

Thank you for your trust.
Amash, 40, has served the people of West Michigan since 2011. He was a Republican but moved to an Independent last year before switching parties again to Libertarian earlier this year.
He also explored a presidential run as a Libertarian candidate before confirming he will not run in May.
Several Republican candidates are running to replace Amash, and only one Democrat, Hillary Scholten, is running for the seat.
