Kwame Kilpatrick court filing: I tried to 'physically harm' my attorney
Motion filed in attempt to overturn conviction of ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick
Supreme Court denies Kwame Kilpatrick's request for new trial
Kilpatrick will be in federal court before District Judge Nancy G. Edmunds. He has been fighting to get his conviction overturned.
In 2013, a federal jury convicted Kilpatrick of racketeering, bribery, and other corruption charges.
The ex-mayor is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence.
Kilpatrick's attorney filed a motion June 30 with the U.S. District Court in an attempt to vacate the verdict, citing court errors present in his case.
The U.S. Supreme Court denied to take up the former mayor's request for a new trial back in 2016.
