"Ladies Night" in Milford is meant to get women shopping and dining in and around Main Street. But, two women may have celebrated too much, with one of them landing in jail.

They were shopping and dining on Main Street last Thursday. By 11:30 that night, the two were seen arguing with each other.

"The second woman who was subsequently arrested stated that she was arguing with the woman because she thought she was too intoxicated to drive," said Milford Police Detective Scott Tarasiewicz.

The two split up, walking in different directions.

A patrol officer, who noticed them arguing, followed one of the women to her car.

"Determined that she was intoxicated and unable to drive. At that point, her friend who she was arguing with pulled up behind the officer spoke with that lady."

The woman was telling the officer not to let her friend drive because she had been drinking.

"At that point the officer realized the woman in the second vehicle seemed intoxicated. At that point, he had her get out of the vehicle."

He gave her a field sobriety test and breathalyzer, which she failed.

She was taken to the police station.

Police say the woman was trying to stop her friend from getting begin the wheel, but didn't take her own advice.

"Maybe she didn't realized how intoxicated she was," Tarasiewicz added. "When you are drinking and when you are intoxicated, common sense goes out the window."

Police drove the friend home because she was in fact too drunk to drive.

As for the woman, she is facing DUI charges and will be in court May 17.
