Five people were injured in a large apartment building fire early Thursday morning on Detroit's west side.
Fire crews tell 7 Action News the flames appear to have started in a basement unit. One of the injured was an elderly man who was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. He is in critical condition.
In all, 18 people were displaced by the fire.
Right now, crews are investigating the cause of the fire.
