DETROIT (WXYZ) — The City of Detroit is reminding drivers of the busy weekend drawing large crowds to downtown.
Officials say large crowds and traffic congestion are expected in the area March 8 through 10, and visitors should factor in extra time for travel and parking.
“With so many exciting activities taking place this weekend, we urge anyone coming downtown to allow extra time so that they can get to their venue on time,” said Ron Brundidge, Director of the Detroit Department of Public Works Director.

Sunday, March 10
St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Corktown Races – From 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., intermittent intersection closures are expected on Michigan from Vernor to Cass, and Michigan between 6th and 14th streets will be completed closed.

Detroit Pistons game at Little Caesars Arena
Cypress Hill concert at Fillmore Theatre
DECA State Career Development Conference at Cobo Center
Drivers are asked to avoid entering an intersection when traffic is back up, which can cause gridlock; and to use public transportation to get downtown to help ease traffic congestion.
