DETROIT (WXYZ) — A Latin Counts gang member was sentenced to 30 years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering and assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering.
Ryan Jose Taylor, 24, was sentenced for planning and carrying out a drive-by shooting with fellow gang members in a residential southwest Detroit neighborhood. The shooting killed one vicim and injured two others. According to court records, Taylor fired the gunshot that killed the deceased victim.
The Latin Counts gang primarily operates in southwest Detroit and the downriver communities of Lincoln Park and Ecorse.
Law enforcement identified and charged a total of seven gang members responsible for the drive-by shooting. All members have pleaded guilty.
