HARPER WOODS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police say lighter fluid was poured on a woman during a home invasion in Harper Woods.

On September 5, 2018, police say four armed gunmen forced their way into a residence in the 20000 block of Elkhart by kicking in a side door. The armed men entered the residence and began demanding money from the four adult occupants, police say.

Two small children were in the residence at the time, as well. Shots were fired inside the residence by the gunmen but no one was shot or injured, police say.

One of the suspects poured lighter fluid all over a woman while demanding money from here. The suspects ran away from the scene shortly after.

Demyran Burk, 17, was arrested on May 31 in connection with the incident. He is facing armed robbery and home invasion charges, as well as two counts of felony firearm. His bond was set at $150,000.

Police are continuing to investigate and hope to identify the other suspects in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety at 313-343-2350 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
