LINCOLN PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) — The city of Lincoln Park has declared a state of emergency due to massive flooding in the area. The declaration will allow the city to make use of mutual aid, county, state and federal resources, according to a release.

Lincoln Park Mayor Thomas E. Karnes declared the state of emergency on May 1 stating, "All resources of the city are being used to ensure the safety of our residents during this unfortunate event. This declaration allows us to meet the obligations we have to our residents in providing for the highest level of service in protecting their safety and welfare."

Wayne County also declared a state of emergency Thursday, with confirmation from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer that a declaration would be signed Friday morning.
