ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WXYZ) — When FB Barcelona takes on Napoli this weekend at the Big House in Ann Arbor, they will be without the best player in the world. After earlier announcing that Lionel Messi would join the team in the United States, Messi has been ruled out o the two games this week due to an injury.

According to the team, Messi injured his calf in the first training session on Monday, and will not travel with the United States. He has a grade 1 calf strain, and will remain in Barcelona while the team travels to the U.S.

ESPN reports that this was Messi's first training session with Barca, because he participated in the Copa America, but he was with the team Sunday when they took on Arsenal.

On Instagram, Messie posted a photo of him training with the caption, "I wanted to be with the team and with the people who follow us in the U.S. This time, it's not to be, but we will each each other again soon. A hug to all."

Barca will take on Napoli at the Big House on Saturday at 5 p.m. They'll first face off in Miami Wednesday.
