DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan gave an update on the city's response to coronavirus on Thursday.

Duggan talked about how those workers in barbershops, salons, and more going back to work Monday can get a free 15-minute test this weekend. Details here.

The number of coronavirus cases in the city continue to fall, and Chief Health Officer Denise Fair said they are seeing about 20 new cases a day on average. About half of those cases are asymptomatic she said, and about 20% are people in their 20s.

Duggan also talked about how the city council has made it quicker for businesses to get sidewalk permits to expand outdoor seating, and said 56 places have already been approved. They have also closed five streets so far with plans to close more.

The city also gave an update on expanding DDOT bus services and ramping them back up across the city, as well as safety measures they are taking.
