VAN BUREN TWP. (WXYZ) — Michigan State Police are sending a warning to residents after a live grenade was recovered from a location in the 50000 block of W. Huron River Dr. in Van Buren Township Monday.
The live grenade was reported around 5:15 p.m. The MSP bomb squad responded and the area was cleared by 6:50 p.m.

The Bomb Squad cleared the area at 6 50 PM . One live hand grenade was recovered and will be destroyed.

With this discovery, police want the public to remember these important guidelines:
-- If you run across an old explosive while cleaning your attic or garage, DO NOT TOUCH IT!
-- Also, don't bring the explosive to a police station
-- Call the police and let the bomb squad take care of it
-- Also, never ever handle any old wartime mementos on your own "Let the pros handle it!" MSP said in a Twitter post.
