LIVONIA, Mich. (WXYZ) — The city of Livonia has made the list of Michigan's safest cities!
According to backgroundchecks.com, the city ranked in the top 20 cities list based on FBI crime statistics and ration of law enforcement officers in the community.
“These ratings reaffirm what we know,” said Mayor Dennis K. Wright. “Our community is among the safest anywhere, thanks to the hard work of the men and women of the Livonia Police Department. We also know that our Citizens make it a priority to support public safety in so many ways.”
Earlier this year, Livonia was honored as one of the Top 100 Safest Cities in the U.S. by Reviews.com.
"Livonia Police Department has an outstanding staff of law enforcement professionals, but we can’t do our job in a vacuum,” Chief Curtis Caid said. “The only way a police agency can have success in its mission to safeguard their community is working hand in hand with the community that we serve.”
Along with Neighborhood Watch programs, technology such as the "Neighbors" app and Ring video systems, residents of the city have been able to assist police when a crime occurs.
“Engaging our community through our annual Citizens Police Academy, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the business community and more, all lends to Livonia being one of the Nation’s most desired places to live, work and raise a family,” Chief Caid said.
