The hiring game is getting a makeover thanks to one Detroit company's program.
Current is the brainchild of Detroit Labs, and the web platform aims to streamline the hiring process.
But guess what? With this system, that resume is not going to take you far.
"We don’t accept resumes and Current isn't a platform that’s built on only accepting resumes," said Elyse Turner.
Instead, what candidates have to offer is revealed by a Getting To Know You form, or a "GTKY" as Detroit Labs calls it.
"The employees are allowed to weigh in on potential candidates—flag any concerns, say if they thought an answer was really good. They can basically give a thumbs up or a thumbs down—for a specific candidate," said Turner.
The forms can be personalized based on the employer and the team at Labs says it’s best suited for smaller to medium-sized companies.
One of the important benefits of Current: getting a different perspective on your candidates.
"It’s more than just technology or these specific skills, I'll see things like, 'oh this kind of attitude, or this kind of value or this kind of moral belief system is what we want more of in Labs.' This cultural aspect will challenge us in a way that we want to be challenged," said Nathan Hughes, co-founder of Detroit Labs.
Current is currently in beta version and it’s free to sign up.
