More than 100 metro area students were on hand Saturday, as rap star Big Sean received a special honor in his hometown of Detroit.

The Grammy-nominated recording artist was presented an official Key to the City by Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan.

Duggan says he wanted to recognize Big Sean for encouraging kids to stay in school and pursue a higher education, and told him he is always welcome in the Motor City.

"Sean, this is your reminder that every time you leave Detroit, you can always bounce back," Duggan said.

Big Sean also accepted a check for $110,000 from Rock Ventures and Quicken Loans. The money will help fund Big Sean's "Mogul Prep" program, which help students explore career opportunities in the entertainment industry.
