LANSING, Mich. — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's husband, Marc Mallory, is retiring after 35 years in dentistry.

In a letter sent to patients on Dec. 23, Mallory said he has chosen Dr. Priyanka Watwe to take over his practice.

The text of the letter is below:

I am pleased to announce that after 35 years in dentistry, I am retiring. I will miss all the wonderful friendships I have enjoyed throughout the years. I want to thank you for allowing me to serve your dental needs and be a part of your family.

It was my goal to ensure my patients continue to receive the best possible upon my retirement. Therefore, I have carefully chosen Dr. Watwe to continue this practice and serve you and your families. I am very to transition my practice to her; you will find her to be a warm, caring, and truly genuine person.

Dr. Watwe graduated with high distinction from Michigan State University then completed her dental degree at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. After graduation, she chose to receive advanced training at a General Practice Residency program at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She also has extensive training in implants, surgery, cosmetic, and general dentistry. She is an extremely skilled clinician and will be able to offer many services in the office that we previously did not. Dr. Watwe is a compassionarte, friendly, and considerate individual, all qualities which made me confident in choosing her to be my successor.

The current office team will be staying to assist you and help you welcome Dr. Watwe. She and I will be working together to wnsure a smooth transition and respond to your specific, individual needs. Your next visit with your favorite hydienist will give you an opportunity to meet Dr. Watwe. Should you have a need for dental treatment, please contact the team. The office will have all your past records and radiographs so treatment can continue uninterrupted.

You have been such wonderful friends to me, and I ask you all give Dr. Watwe a warm and friendly greeting the first time you meet her. I will appreciate all that you can do to make her feel welcome and I can assure you she will take excellent care of your entire family. My family and I will remain patients pf Dr. Watwe too.

Thank you again for the past 35 years and for helping me turn the practice into not only a dental office, but into my second home.

Best wishes,

Dr. Marc Mallory
