Local U.S. Navy Officer surprises son at school

Posted

A special Friday morning assembly at Rodgers Elementary had a great surprise for kindergartner Aiden.

He was dancing away, not knowing that a man he hasn't hugged or kissed in more than a year was around the corner.

Navy Chief Petty Officer Brian Mulvane had been in Africa protecting U.S. ships, but he came home, shocking Aiden and his daughter, Rebecca.

Mulvane has been in the Navy for 16 years and has been deployed five times since 2008.

"As they get older, you know that your absence is affecting them and that's probably the hardest part," he said.

Kids at the school made a car and signs for the special homecoming after so many months of seeing each other only on Skype.
