Longtime Detroit sports columnist Drew Sharp has died, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Sharp was 56 years old.
The Freep notes Sharp started as a full-time columnist at the newspaper in 1999.
"Drew was I think one of the premiere voices of the Detroit Free Press," said Robert Huschka, executive editor of the Detroit Free Press. "He was bold in his opinions. His voice on paper was very loud. He was a real presence in the Detroit sports landscape."
Every time Drew and I saw each other, there was a Brother Rice / CC jab. He had heart, and was good company. Praying for his family.
