WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — M-59 is closed between Teggerdine and Pontiac Lake Road due to a fatal crash early Wednesday morning, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's command desk.
The incident happened on Highland Road and White Banks.
According to police, around 6 a.m., a car traveling west on M-59 struck a 59-year-old female pedestrian, who was walking to work at the Speedway station, located across the street.
Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, and the woman died at the scene, police say.
The driver stayed on the scene and was questioned. Right now, police say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident.
White Lake police are currently handling the investigation.
