(WXYZ) — The International Academy of Macomb was listed among the top 10 high schools in America, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The rankings include data on more than 23,000 public high schools across the country. More than 17,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college. These factors include college readiness, college curriculum breadth, math and reading proficiency, math and reading performance, underserved student performance and graduation rate.

The International Academy of Macomb is a magnet school that offers an International Baccalaureate curriculum. As underclassmen, students will take classes meant to prepare them for the IB courses they'll take as juniors. Those who fulfill the IB program's requirements can earn an IB diploma. On top of their coursework, students can take part in activities like student council, pep band, Harry Potter Alliance and soccer club. To apply, incoming freshmen must pass the IAM placement test, submit academic records and a recommendation from their middle school, and provide their state standardized test scores.
IA Macomb ranked number eight in national rankings, number one in Michigan high schools and number five in magnet high schools.
Academic Magnet High School in South Carolina was named number one in national rankings.
