If you use flushable wipes and live within Macomb County, this is for you.
City officials are asking residents to stop flushing wipes down the toilet because they're clogging the sewer system, according to Macomb County's Public Works Chief.
Commissioner Candice miller says that when the wipes enter the system, they don't break down as advertised. This causes problems with pumps and machinery, and it's costing taxpayers money.
The commissioner is now urging state lawmakers to require a change in packaging and marketing for all wipes (baby wipes, make-up remover wipes and similar products) to make sure they're clearly marked "non-flushable"
