MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 12-year-old girl's secret password with her mother may have prevented an abduction in Macomb County on Wednesday morning.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, a 12-year-old girl was walking to her bus stop about 7:05 a.m. near Camelot Blvd. and Bolingbrook St. in Macomb Township when she was approached by a vehicle.

The man inside the car told her to "get in the car," and the girl then asked what the password was, and the man said he didn't know.

According to deputies, the girl and her mother have a password they use if her mother would ever have someone pick her up.

The girl then ran away from before the vehicle then took off. She continued to the bus and told the school resource officer when she got to school. Another student also saw it happen.

The vehicle is described as a newer black Chevy 4-door sedan with heavily-tinted windows. The driver is described as a white male in his early 20s with dark hair.

Chippewa Valley School District is also aware of the incident and plans to send out an alert to parents which will include talking points for parents regarding stranger danger.
