GRAND BLANC, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 25-year-old Macomb woman was killed when the car she was driving was hit by a wrong-way driver along I-75 in Grand Blanc on Monday night.
According to police, they started receiving calls around 10:53 p.m. about a vehicle going the wrong way in the northbound lanes of I-475.
As they were on the way, officers were notified of a crash along I-75 right near I-475.
We're told the driver, a 60-year-old Flint man, traveled from I-475 into the northbound lanes of I-75 but was still going the wrong way. Within a quarter mile, police say his 1995 Chevy Suburban hit the woman's 2014 Ford Focus head-on.
Both drivers died on impact, police say.
The northbound lanes of I-75 were shut down for nearly five hours as police investigated the crash.
They say alcohol appears to be a factor.
