Madison Heights police investigating body found on road

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Madison Heights Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that happened Tuesday night.

Around 7:57 p.m. on Oct. 29, Madison Heights Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a person lying in the southbound lane of Dequindre Road near Jenifer Street.

Police say the 54-year-old man had been hit by a vehicle traveling southbound on Dequindre Road. Multiple citizens stopped to help and block the roadway until first-responders arrived on scene.

The vehicle that hit the man sped off from the scene. Officers suspect the 54-year-old man was homeless and was seen asking for money prior to the incident.

Madison Heights Police detectives are still investigating the hit-and-run. Detectives are urging the driver responsible to contact police.
