MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Madison Heights police are warning residents of a suspect who is posing as an electrical worker in the area. They say the suspect is putting up the charade to scam residents out of cash.

A resident targeted by the suspect told police they were told there's a problem with their electrical box. Then the suspect told them that the electrical company will pay the victim for their troubles and he produces cash, but asks for change. When the victim retrieves the change, the suspect has them leave the money on a table upstairs before heading to the basement to explain what needs to be fixed.

The suspect then makes an excuse to go back upstairs while the victim is still in the basement. That's when he takes the cash from the table and flees.

Police say the suspect is a white male in his 50s. Is about 6 feet tall and weighs around 180 pounds. He was driving a white Chevy Colorado with tinted windows.
